Jean-Marie Fiori, born in 1952 in Limoges, began his artistic training at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He continued his studies with a master's degree in fine arts at Paris VII Vincennes. Initially interested in painting, frescoes and trompe l'oeil, he quickly turned to sculpture, particularly animal representation.
In his studio, he works with several materials such as alabaster and marble, which he carves directly, allowing him to develop his talent by giving a rich resonance to the colour that characterises his sculptures. Over the years, he has also perfected his mastery of bronze and gradually enriched his imaginary bestiary with design pieces and monumental installations.
From the late 1990s onwards, our artist made his mark in the field of contemporary sculpture and worked on major projects. In 1997, he designed the Tower of Beasts in Majorca, a true architectural work combining symbolism and animal imagery. In 1999, he created Dolmen de Serris for Marne la Vallée. In 2000, he was commissioned by the Monnaie de Paris to design a zodiac, demonstrating institutional recognition for his work.
It was during this period that he earned the admiration and friendship of interior designer Alberto Pinto, an encounter that proved decisive for his work, which moved towards a plastic language closer to the decorative arts.
