Sarah BERNHARDT

Named "sacred monster" by Jean Cocteau, Sarah Bernhardt is considered as the very first star-celebrity of the Art Nouveau period. He got success as an actress in theatrer, emboding the greatest roles of her time as Theodora in 1884 or la Dame aux camelias in 1882. Known for her strong and difficult personality, she was the first to understand the buzz effect to get visibility. Her red hair became a signature which can be seen in the posters models drawn by Alphonse Mucha. She explored and experimented with all the artistic creations of her time, including sculpture with terracota and marble carving. at the end of her life, near her house in Belle Ile en Mer, he even trid to model seaweeds to get very abstract models. As well as practising this discipline at a high level, which earned her the recognition of her peers, she maintained many friendly relationships with artists and their assistants who benefited from her influence and patronage.
Her famous models are the jester and the self portrait inker.
