Jacques LIPCHITZ


Jacques Lipchitz is a Russian sculptor who was world wild famous. He lived in Paris from he was 18 years old, then he went to America during the Second World War, and finally he settled the rest of his life at Capri in Italy. Generally, he didn’t have much experience in paintings and graphical arts; which makes him a special artist. Then he improved his manner only by sculptural works during a period in which the cubism inspired all Art areas, following Georges Braque, Picasso and Leger. He constituted a modest collection of objects from all over the world , which allows him to acquire general notions of Art History and furthermore, to study great themes such as still life, which was often treated with a low relief manner, circa 1918, or moreover to study the representation  of different religious or mythological characters, such as the Fight between David and Goliath, circa 1933.
