La Lampe Dompteuse is a vibrant model again referring to the bestiary of the sculptor who usually included many small animals in his creations, to multiple variants. The fluidity of the composition refers to the world of entertainment. The model of the lamp also evokes the shape of an asymmetric flame, which is enhanced by the patina.
Like for the model of the "étoile" or “figure”lamp, by Alberto, who offered a variety of lighting with only one base model, in his floor lamps for example, Diego used the composition of the tamer for the base of a table but also for fire-dogs. So the lamps are usually presented in pair, with a different version of the tiger, head turned on the left or on the right.
When the piece was produced, the artist was widely appreciated, no longer eclipsed by the glory of his brother. Diego had his foundry studio at rue du Moulin-Vert, and worked with a Parisian founder and was helped by people from the neighborhood. The cast is nervous and signed in the model, which make it, in our opinion, a beautiful artist example.
